I moved to Histon in 1996 to work for a local housing association. Our two children attended the village schools. I was a founder member of the Community Orchard Project and am the fundraiser/treasurer. I’m also a founding trustee of Histon & Impington Community Land Trust and its secretary. I joined the Parish Council in 2018. Having retired a few years ago I’m now able to spend more time rowing on the Cam.
As a Parish Councillor, this is what I want to focus on:
- Support the work of Histon and Impington Community Land Trust to provide affordable housing for local people.
- Secure the long-term use of the Infants School site as a medical centre
- Ensure that our community can examine and respond to the major development proposals that will be made in the coming years. I am very keen that we undertake a comprehensive analysis and consultation on the opportunities and threats that the Cambridge Science Park North proposal being developed for the farmland east of Impington might present to us.
- Promote a sound plan to manage the Parish Council’s assets (land, buildings and large-scale equipment), to ensure that plans and provision are made to replace and maintain assets.
