Histon & Impington Green Spaces (HIGS) Commemorative Tree Planting Ceremony on Long Meadow
Midday on Saturday 21st January 2023 on Long Meadow, Park Lane
HIGS is planning a commemorative event in January 2023. The aim is to plant a tree to commemorate the start of the Abbey Fields project and to celebrate the ancient oak tree which stands in the corner of the Croft Close Set-aside. We will be planting one of its likely descendants, which will replace the large sycamore at Long Meadow which sadly had to be turned into a “habitat monolith” last year for safety reasons.
Caroline Chivers has been asked to take part in the tree planting ceremony which will also involve local children.
It is possible that if the ground is frozen solid at the time, the ceremony will have to be delayed a few weeks.
