We are having to undertake some urgent tree works on two sites. On Monday 22nd September we are raising the crown on the willow at the end of the Brook on the village green, near the entrance to Brook School, in order to relieve the significant obstruction of the sight lines in a high target area. This will happen after school has started.
The second tree works are happening on Tuesday 30th September and involves the removal of the ornamental cherry tree located behind the bus stop at School Hill. The tree has been in decline for several years, but it has now developed a “Chicken of the Woods” fungus, as in the featured image for this post. These are attributable to brown rot and their presence indicates localised decay in the area of the brackets. Given the high pedestrian potential target area and position of the brackets in an area supporting the main crown, it has been recommended that this tree is removed. We will organise to replace with another suitable tree as soon as possible.
