Histon & Impington Parish Council – Update on Meetings week commencing 16th September

Further to two important meetings this week

  1. Monday 16th September:  HIPC Full Council
  2. Tuesday 17th September:  HIPC Extraordinary Meeting to consider two planning applications from IVC.

HIPC wanted to thank all the residents for attending these meetings and providing valuable input.

The attendance, the interest and the concerns from Histon & Impington residents was clear and was heard by all members of Council.

Where projects are brought forward for our consideration, our Council is guided by resident feedback.  Where residents speak up and bring their concerns this gives Council information to work with.

One of the key decisions for September Full Council was the approval of a HIPC Feasibility Study regarding the request for a Pump Track in our villages.  All motions were approved.  Amendments were made to include consideration of  HIPC Recreation Ground as a possible site.  In addition the HI Pump Track charity agreed to fund feasibility of other sites that may come forward. This study will pay careful regard to cost incurred, collect required data and information with a commitment to engage and inform the community before any further steps are taken.

The Extraordinary meeting approved the planning applications raised by IVC for their netball pitch and provision of a 3G.  The concern around traffic as a whole in New Road presented by the residents in this meeting and many previous Planning meetings was clear.  IVC has committed to take part in a regular liaison group with HIPC, Histon Hornets and residents living in Park Drive, New Road and the surrounding area.  This forum will be initiated and taken forward as a priority.  In addition the request for provision of double yellow lines at the entrance of Park Drive are being considered.  You will also see posts from Histon Hornets who are working hard with IVC, HIPC and to decrease the impact of their matches on this area.

We also want to thank HIPC Staff, Councillors and external organisations who have spent time and careful consideration around these decisions.
