Update June Full Council Agenda – Green Spaces

Histon & Impington Parish Council are aware of a leaflet being delivered to households in Histon and Impington over the weekend. After investigation we understand this leaflet came from HI Locals for the Environment.

Histon & Impington Parish Council can confirm there was no intention of including an item on the agenda for Full Council on Monday 16th June 2025 to “green light feasibility studies and construction plans on Manor Park Meadow and Homefield Park”.

At the September 2024 Full Council meeting (September 2024 Draft Minutes), Council approved feasibility studies of Manor Park, Homefield Park and The Recreation Ground (subject to cost). It was also noted at that meeting the Terms of Reference (framework) for the studies will be presented to Council for public scrutiny and this has not taken place as this work has not yet started.

These studies are of the sites as they look now and to evidence if a site has the potential for any form of development or project. They are not specific to the provision of a pump track but are a key document to ensure data lead decisions can be made should any future requests for use of Parish Council owned green spaces arises.

Noting the public interest in these sites, should an item feature on a future Parish Council agenda, a suitable venue (noting the Recreation Ground Community Room is too small) will be booked and advertised in advance.

As approved in September 2024, the commitment from the Parish Council to residents to consult by means of letter drop, consultation and public meeting will still take place once the data from these studies has been collected.

The pump track is not a Parish Council project, the provision of a pump track in Histon and Impington is being led by Histon & Impington Pump Track Charity. The Parish Council is undertaking a rigorous investigation and consultation of Parish Council owned sites identified to have potential by the Charity. The Charity is working independently to investigate sites not in the ownership of the Parish Council.

Histon & Impington Parish Council wish to apologise to residents that have been distressed or confused by this information, should anyone wish to contact the Office for a chat or visit to talk in person please call 01223 235906 or email clerk@hisimp-pc.gov.uk.
