We will be undertaking work in Homefield Park on trees near the houses in Hereward Close on Monday 31st March 2025. Following the falling of a tree in a storm, the other trees in the area have been examined and been found to either be suffering from sooty bark disease or be affected by exposure where the other tree has fallen. Due to the proximity to properties, these trees are to be removed.
We would not normally be undertaking tree work as it is nesting season, but residents have expressed concerns about further tree damage to property and so we have decided to undertake the work as soon as possible. However, all the trees will be checked for nesting birds, and work stopped on any trees which have nests in them or on which nesting activity is observed. The paths near the work site may be closed for a time for safety purposes.
We have already started on a replanting plan, with hawthorns, hazels, cherry plums and a holly tree being currently considered.
